Organization was originally founded in 1909 as Theta Sigma Phi, a college honorary organization for women in journalism. The Indianapolis Chapter was founded in 1928 by students of Butler, Indiana and DePauw Universities. In 1972 the current name was adopted and men were accepted as members. The Indianapolis Chapter has been active in providing communications education on the secondary and college levels as well as continuing education through workshops, manuals, conferences, internships and management seminars. Records include minutes, financial records, correspondence, newspaper clippings, photographs, scrapbooks,membership lists, and publications from both the local and national organizations.
